Designed to be in harmony with the surrounding landscape, CorkShack Marvão Ecolodges offers the ideal escape from a busy life and serve as the perfect base from which to discover all that the Alentejo region has to offer. They are located on the border of Portugal and Spain in the “Serra de São Mamede”, a protected nature reserve of 31000 hectares with an altitude of 1025 metres. This park was created with the aim of protecting the wildlife and plants as well as preserving the local traditions.
A few minutes away stands the peaceful town of Marvão on the highest crest of the Serra de São Mamede. A picturesque walled town of white houses, narrow cobbled streets, Gothic arches, Manueline windows and the magnificent castle with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, home to the famous International Marvão Music Festival
Nearby are the historic towns of Castelo de Vide, Portalegre, Évora (Unesco World Heritage) and Estremoz, places with fascinating culture and historic pasts. Just a few kilometres away is the border of Spain and within easy reach are the Unesco World Heritage towns of Caçeres and Mérida.
